Lake Holon

I needed to convince myself that I made no mistake doing this so with every step, I whispered on repeat "Lake Holon, you better be worth it!".

I am no trekker, no athlete & definitely not sporty, just another lazy-ass-couch-potato who's willing to pay extra for comfort and convenience PLUS I had to deal with my period cramps at the time (perfect timing) but I DID IT... and swear, I'm NEVER doing it again! Hahaha. JK! 😂

How did I even manage to smile after all the trekking? Hahaha and then I remembered , "Aha, #picturegoals" 😂

Kidding aside, Lake Holon was a different kind of experience; it was beautiful and calm, one where you get to be intimate with Mother Nature; one that makes you modest because it reminds you what tiny space you occupy in the world; one that makes you see the beauty in all the little things. And one, I will never regret taking.

Sure, pictures are great but these do not justify its beauty and majesty. The place is something you need to SEE for yourself. You just have to be prepared for anything - crazy weather which involves intermittent rains & heavy downpour, scorching heat from the sun, fatigue/exhaustion, thirst & low blood sugar. Hahaha make sure to pack light with necessities but pack a LOT of patience and endurance. Just PACK GANERN! 😂 Trust me, the place is worth it!

Beautiful, isn't it?

We took the difficult trail (Kule) going up to see a better of view of the lake. And we took the easy trail (Salacafe) going down where I opted to ride a horse after a grueling hour of climbing from the lake because my legs were already shaking! Hahaha But if you can (and I know you can) then by all means, TREK ON FOOT all the way! It's a much better experience.

Unfortunately, it rained so hard when we arrived; we didn't get to experience the kayak and I only managed to swim for about 10 minutes before the downpour. The lake literally turned ino a huge basin - and we could only hope for the rain to stop. It was freezing cold and we were soaking wet which probably explains why we were pre-advised to be "WATERPROOF" ourselves. Haha! The weather was just so unpredictable; it's even worse than a girl on her period (eherm) 😂.

So even if I don't want to anymore, I might just consider going back. I NEED TO EXPLORE THE LAKE & all the mystery surrounding it.

(Note to self: Will take the easier trail this time, maybe? 🤔😏)

Below are photos we took on Day 2 when the sun finally decided to show up. Hahaha

Nevertheless, Lake Holon was FUN and we made some amazing memories there; locals were really nice, strangers turned into friends... but I have to give credit to our amazing TOUR GUIDE who made everything easier and definitely MORE FUN for us. Sir Banjo, you are an incredible human being. Bless you!

My verdict? ONCE IS ENOUGH. LOL!

But MAYBE, just maybe, I might consider going back. When all the muscle pain subsides 😜 and after Vir recovers from his "yayay".

After all, I was right. LAKE HOLON IS WORTH IT! ❤️
